MOMENT FOR PRAYER

Prayer is a most important aspect of our faith. Prayer is of course a very personal thing. There are no right and wrongs ways of going about it - so long as You are praying to our God and Father or to the Lord Jesus or to the Holy Spirit - one God, three persons.

Our congregation's prayer diary, (issued 2 or 3 times a year), is an aid to prayer - mainly to help us in our prayers for others and to keep us from being too self-centred in our prayers. Here are some we would like to share with you.

You are the chosen of the Lord,
To sing His highest praise.

To show His wondrous ways.

Thank you Heavenly Father,

Receive our love, our thanks and our praise.
Please pour your purity, power and passion for justice into our hearts as we humbly pray......
for Your kingdom to come and Your will to be done in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Care Prayer Guide.

Sovereign Lord, where do we begin?
We thank you for so many things,
the faith You have given us,
all who share it with us,
Love that hung on a cross for us,
Your Holy Word available to us,
Your Holy promises that stand forever.
As we have slept this nation has been taken by every sin
ever known to man; So at it's gates, though burnt by fire and broken, In Jesus name we come to take our stand.

Remember mercy, O Lord again.
Creator and Redeemer, we thank you for your wonderful world. Help us to recognise your presence in all that you have created. make us faithful stewards, empowering us to value and protect all that you have provided for us on land, sea and in the air. Help us also to love and care for your people throughout the world, while seeking to preserve for future generations all the blessings we now enjoy, in Jesus name.

And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
Lord, let your Spirit meet us here to mend the body, mind and soul, to disentangle peace from pain and make your broken people whole. Remember also other countries and people caught up in wars, acts of terrorism, natural disaster, oppression, those denied human rights and freedom to worship.
Help me, O God, to be a good and true friend. To be always loyal and never to let my friends down. Never to talk about them behind their backs in a way which I would not do to their faces. Never to betray a confidence or talk about things about which I ought to be silent. Always to be ready to share everything I have. To be as true a friend as I would wish them to be to me. This I ask for the sake of him who is the greatest and truest of friends, for Jesus sake.

I AM THANKFUL.......

For the wife who says "It's hot dogs tonight" because she is home with me not out with someone else. For the parking spot at the far end of the car park because it means I am capable of walking and have been blessed with transportation.
For the husband who is a couch potato because he is home with me not out at the bars. For my huge heating bill because it means I am warm.
For the teenage who complains about everything because it means they are at home not on the streets. For the lady behind me in the church who sings off key because it means I can hear.
For the mess to clean after a party because it means I have been surrounded by friends. For the pile of laundry and ironing because it means we have clothes to wear.
For the lawn that needs mowing, windows that need fixing because it means I have a home. For the alarm that goes off in the early hours because it means I am alive.
For all the complaining I hear about the government because it means I we have freedom of speech. And finally, for too much e-mail because it means I have friends who are thinking of me.
For the person who gossips about me even mistakenly because it means they are not selfish concerned entirely with themselves. Live well, laugh often and love with all your heart.

Add your own reasons to be thankful, turning negatives into positives.
